Incident Bulletin 19th August Day Shift

18th August 2017

TOC 10:33 Location : A174, Hinderwell

Crews from Whitby, Lythe and Loftus attended reports of a 2 vehicle road traffic collision involving a Land Rover which was on its side and a Honda. 3 occupants of Land Rover 2 adults and 1 child were out of the vehicle upon our arrival suffering minor injuries. 2 occupants of Honda were also out upon arrival and uninjured. Fire crews made both vehicles safe and cleared up fuel and oil spills. Small tools and drizzet pads used.

TOC 10:51 Location : Crathorne

A crew from Stokesley attended an incident at a property where the fire alarms had been activated. Crews investigated premises and found a fault on the boilers causing them to issue black smoke. Boiler engineer was called and crews stood by until engineer was happy with progress.

TOC 12:37 Location : Ripon Bypass, Ripon

A crew from Ripon attended a fire to a field just off the bypass. The fire was caused by waste straw from rear of combine harvester which was failing to drop due to a strong wind. This caused the straw to ignite and damaged approx. 50m x 5m of cut straw. Crews also investigated combine for fire spread and removed excess straw from back. Crews used 1 hose reel to damp down straw which had burnt and small tools and thermal imaging camera for investigation purposes.

TOC 12:43 Location : Stockwell place, Knaresborough

Knaresborough & Harrogate crew attended a fire to a tumble dryer at a property. Upon arrival fire crews found the occupier trying to remove burning clothes from the dryer, thankfully they were uninjured. Fire crews disconnected and isolated the power supply and removed the dryer to open air before extinguishing with a hose reel. Fire caused damage to clothes and tumble dryer only. They believe the fire was caused due to the appliance been overloaded.

TOC 13:20 Location : North Parade, Skipton

A fire crew from Skipton attended an alarm actuation from a property on this street and found the elderly occupier had a small fire in their microwave. The fire was out upon arrival of fire crews who gave fire safety advise and ventilated the property.

TOC 15:52 Location : Windsor Drive, Wigginton, York    

Fire crew from Huntington attended a request to help a 13yr old female up was stuck approx. 8m up a tree. 2 adult males who’d heard her shouting for help whilst walking their dogs climbed the tree to assist but all 3 required assistance to get out. Crews used a 9m ladder to rescue girl and provided assistance for the men.
