Lounge Fire - York

12th February 2015

Toc:  1337 hours

Location: Heslington Road, York

At 1337 hours the Fire Service were called to a fire in a lounge in a three storey Victorian house. Fire Crews from Acomb and Huntington Fire Station attended. Upon arrival crews found there had been a fire in a log basket which had spread to a video recorder and DVDs.  The occupant of the property had extinguished the fire with a bucket of water prior to the Fire Service arrival.  Crews removed items involved in the fire to the open air and checked the room with a thermal imaging camera.  The fire caused 20% fire damage to the decor in the room of origin, and 5% smoke damage to the room of origin.  No smoke alarms were fitted in the property so crews fitted 3 before leaving.  The cause of the fire is believed to be embers from the fire into the log basket.
