Moor Fire - Ugthorpe

Location: Ugthorpe, A171

Appliances (fire engines) from Lythe, Whitby and an Argocat from Kirbymoorside were initially mobilised to reports of a moor fire on the A171 near Ugthorpe, upon arrival crews discovered a fire measuring approximately 10m by 200m and made up for a further 3 appliances. Supporting crews from Guisborough, Loftus and Danby were them mobilised along with a land rover from Goathland and a water bowser from Boroughbridge.

At 14:09 one additional appliance from Scarborough was mobilised to assist crews with water supply, information from crews states there are 2 large fire fronts and they are being tackled using 5 hose reel jets.

Update 15:35

The fire has now been extinguished, crews are damping down the area and checking for hotspots.

This incident is now being left and is due for a re-vist tomorrow.

Crews from Whitby, Danby, Guisborough, Kirbymoorside, Goathland and Robin Hoods Bay responded to reports that the fire had flared back up, crews are currently on scene and have surrounded the fire. Kirbymoorside's Argocat is to attend to traverse the moor and damp down remaining hotspots.

An appliance from Whitby returned to the incident at 11:22 and after inspection confirmed that this incident can now be closed.
