Incident Summary night shift 14th May 2018

15th May 2018

West Ayton, Scarborough 17:48

Scarborough attended a fire in a bedroom caused by light reflecting off a mirror. Fire was out prior to the fire brigade arriving at scene. Crews carried out an investigation and cleared smoke in the property using positive pressure ventilation fan.

Northallerton 18:01

2 crews from Northallerton attended a fire involving wood chippings inside a barn. Crews used 2 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets, 2 main jets and a thermal imagine camera. *this incident has been left open for a revisit by Northallerton crew on 15/05

Scorton 18:08

Colburn and Richmond attended a scrap metal fire. Crews extinguished the fire using 2 hose reel jets and a main jet.

Richmond 18:29

Crews from Leyburn and Reeth were sent to reports of smoke coming from a building. On investigation, it was discovered a pile of leaves were being burnt in the nearby vicinity, advice given. Crews checked building over and confirmed no smoke or signs of fire inside.

York 19:31

York crew extinguished a small bin fire using 1 hose reel jet, caused is believed to be deliberate.

Knaresborough 22:23

A crew was sent to an automatic fire alarm. On investigation it is believed the activation was caused by dust.

Heslington Rd, York 00:02

York crew were mobilised to an automatic fire alarm, this turned out to be a fault on the system.

Tockwith, York 00:58

York and Acomb crews were sent to an automatic fire alarm, on arrival this was confirmed as a false alarm due to cooking fumes, no action taken by the fire brigade.

York TOC: 06:37

Crew from York were mobilised to a report of a fire alarm sounding in a premises. This was a false alarm due to an accidental activation of a break glass call point.
