Incident Summary – Night Shift – Sunday 21th October

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Chimney fire – Market Place, Thirsk

Time of call: 1709

Thirsk crew extinguished a chimney fire using a hearth kit and a thermal imagine camera. The cause of the fire was due to an accumulation of soot

Residential fire– Station View, Skipton

Time of call: 1805

2 appliances from Skipton attended reports of a residential fire, this turned out to be a fire confined to a grill pan that was out on arrival. Crews carried out an inspection only.

Tree fire – Brackenhill Lane, Brayton

Time of call: 1824

A crew from Selby attended a Chinese candle lantern that had gotten stuck in a tree and was smouldering. Crews used 1 hose reel to extinguished the lantern and dampen down the tree

Residential Fire – York

Time of call: 01:58

Crew were mobilised to a report of a smell of smoke and a fire alarm sounding. Crews found a smoke logged premises due to a fire involving food left unattended. Crews escorted 1 person from the property using breathing apparatus, and extinguished fire and cleared smoke using a PPV fan.

Bin Fire – Knaresborough

Time of call: 05:36

Crew were mobilised to a report of a bin on fire outside of a chip shop. Crews extinguished using 1 hose reel.

Industrial/Commercial Fire – Eastfield, Scarborough

Time of call: 06:26

Crew were mobilised to a report of a fire in an industrial premises. Fire was out on arrival. Inspection only by fire crews.

North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service also attended a number of automatic fire alarms during the night shift in York, Knaresborough, Thirsk, Malton, Harrogate, Richmond and Scarborough. These all turned out to be false alarms.
