Incident Summary Night Shift 4th July

5th July 2018

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Snape, Bedale - Time of call 17:16

Fire crews from Bedale attended reports of a fire in a garden. This was some controlled burning under good supervision. No action required by Fire Service.

Kilburn, Thirsk - Time of call 18:07

Easingwold crews assisted members of the public with a burst water main until arrival of Yorkshire Water. Crews blocked road to prevent vehicles becoming stuck in surface water.

Wykeham, Scarborough - Time of call 18:15

Crews from Sherburn investigated reports of smoke sighted in the Wykeham area. This was controlled burning and Fire Service assistance was not required.

A1 South Bound at Allerton Park - Time of call 18:18

Knaresborough fire crews assisted Police with making a vehicle safe following a road traffic collision. No people were trapped or injured.

Lady Edith’s Drive, Scarborough - Time of call 18:26

Malton fire crews responded to a small fire in a woodland area. The cause of fire is believed to be deliberate. Crews extinguished fire, using knapsack sprayers and buckets of water.

A19 near Jeater Houses. - Time of call 19:08

Fire crews from Northallerton and Thirsk attended a vehicle fire on the North bound carriageway. This was a false alarm due to a blown turbo mistaken for fire.

Clifton Backies. York - Time of call 19:29

Acomb fire crews rescued a twelve year old boy stuck up to his hip in mud; crews used a ladder, a throw line and a small shovel to dig him out. Boy was unharmed.

A1 North Bound, Baldersby - Time of call 19:39

Colburn and Ripon fire crews attended a BMW on fire. The cause of the fire is believed to electrical. The car was totally destroyed by fire. Crews extinguished fire using four breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet.

Overdale, Scarborough - Time of call 20:14

Fire crews from Scarborough responded to a carved wooden owl well alight. The cause of fire is believed to be deliberate. Crews extinguished the fire using back pack sprayers,

Landing Lane, Riccall, Selby - Time of call 20:27

Fire crews from Selby, Tadcaster and Ripon responded to a cow stuck in a culvert. Some of the crews brought specialist animal rescue equipment. However cow managed to exit the culvert without the assistance of the crews and returned to the farmer.

St Mary’s Walk, Harrogate - Time of call 20:54

Harrogate fire crews attended a smoke alarm activation at residential premises. This was a false alarm caused by dust,

A19 Easingwold. - Time of call 21:49

Easingwold crews responded to some rubbish set alight inside a skip. Cause of fire is believed to be deliberate.  Crew used one hose reel jet to extinguish.

Danesmead Close, York - Time of call 21:54

York fire crews attended a smoke alarm activation at a residential property. This was a false alarm caused by cooking fumes.

Broughton Road, Broughton - Time of call 22:27

Malton crew attended a fire in the open, believed to be a bonfire left unattended, Crews extinguished fire using one hose reel jet.

Forestgate, Haxby, York - Time of call 00:07

Huntington fire crews responded to reports of a fire in a garden. On arrival crews confirmed this was a small bonfire under supervision. No action was required.

A63, Lumby - Time of call 01:50

Selby fire crews and a crew from West Yorkshire Fire Service attended a fire in the open. Fire involved a large amount of rubbish and was caused deliberately. Crews damped down the fire using one hose reel.
