Round up of incidents – Night Shift Wednesday 18th May

 

Norwood Grove, Harrogate

Harrogate crew called to assist with a 14 year old male who had become stuck in a child’s swing. Crews used small hand tools to release the male, uninjured. Advice given.

 

Foulgate Nook Lane, Grewelthorpe

Masham crew sent to reports of a chimney fire. On arrival, crews confirmed this and extinguished the fire using a Hose Reel and checked area with a Thermal Image Camera. Fire confined to the chimney.  Advice given.

 

St Leonards Place, York

York crew sent to investigate a report of heavy smoke in the area. On arrival and after investigation, crew confirmed this to be exhaust smoke from a faulty wagon. Stand by until smoke clearance, no further action.

 

Carlton Bank, Stokesley area

Stokesley crew sent to report from Police of a fire in the open. On arrival, crews dealt with a small rubbish fire, extinguished using a hose reel jet. Cause believed deliberate.

 

Valley Bridge Road, Scarborough.

Scarborough crews sent to assist Police with possible rescue of a male threatening to jump from a height. On arrival, crews liaised with Police and stood by with rescue equipment. After some time the male climbed down from the bridge and was left in care of Police. No further action required by Fire and Rescue crews.

 

The Spa, Scarborough

Scarborough crews sent to assist Police with possible rescue of a female threatening to jump from height. On arrival, crews liaised with Police and stood by with rescue equipment. After some time, crew assisted with their Aerial Ladder Platform to rescue the female from height. Female brought down to safety, uninjured, by Fire and Rescue crews and left in care of Police.

 

Park House Green, Harrogate

Local crews sent to reports of smoke issuing from a property, with possible persons still inside. On arrival, crews assisted one male occupier from the property who was then left in care of paramedics to be checked. Crews ventilated the property with a Positive Pressure Ventilation Fan, after heavy smoke logging from cooking fumes.

 

East Parade, Harrogate

Local crews sent to reports of smoke issuing from a property, with possible persons still inside. On arrival, crews confirmed this to be a false alarm due to cooking fumes. All persons accounted for, no injuries.

 

Industrial Estate, Dalton, Thirsk

Thirsk crew called to an automatic fire alarm activation. On arrival and after investigation, crew confirmed this to be a false alarm due to a fault in the detector.
