Round up of incidents for – Day Shift Sunday 20th March

07:19 Wiggington Road, York

York crew called to a fire alarm activation. After investigation found this to be a false alarm due to an accidental activation of a call point.

08:45 Barlby Road, Selby

Two fire crews from Selby called to reports of a fire in a property. No persons involved. Fire in first floor bathroom, fire out on arrival of crews. Thorough investigation carried out with a Thermal Image Camera to ensure no fire spread. Advice given.

09:35 Stockton Lane, York

A crew from Huntington along with the animal rescue crew from Malton assisted with the rescue of a horse with it’s leg trapped in metal bars in a stable. A vet was on site to oversee the rescue, crews used strops and manpower and successfully managed to free the animal and get it to a place of safety. Incident left in hands of vet.

09:54 St Hildas Road, Harrogate

A crew from Harrogate called to two persons locked in a vehicle. Entry made through passenger side window by fire service crews, both persons released unharmed.

12:11 Bismarck Street, York

Crew from Acomb station responded to a fire alarm sounding in a property. On arrival and found this to be a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

12:14 The Byre, Borrowby, Thirsk

Crew from Thirsk called to a fire in the area. On arrival the crew found this to be controlled burning, under supervision. No action taken.

12:30 Duncombe Place, York

Crews from York area attended and dealt with a fire in kitchen of property. Extinguished using one hose reel. No persons involved.

12:35 Havikil Lane, Scotton, Knaresborough

Crews from Knaresborough, Harrogate and Ripon with attended to assist with a three vehicle road traffic collision. Two casualties trapped in one of the vehicles on arrival of Fire and Rescue, both released by crews and left in care of road and air ambulance personnel.

13:41 Goathland Moor, Goathland

Local crews called to reports of smoke in the open on the moors. After investigation, crews confirmed this to be a false alarm with good intent due to controlled burning, under supervision.

14:31 Ugthorpe, Whitby area

Whitby crew dealt with a chimney fire. Fire extinguished using chimney rods, crews also made the chimney safe using a 9 metre ladder for access and small tools.
