Incident Summary - Day Shift wednesday 24th July 2018

25th July 2018

TOC 0958 - Greenhow Hill

Crews were called to reports of smoke sighted and a possible moor fire in the Greenhow area. Upon arrival crews found that the smoke seen from distance was in fact rising from lime dust being spread on fields by a farmer. No further action was taken.

TOC 1120 – Wetherby

North Yorkshire crews assisted West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service with a road traffic collision.

TOC 1228 – Wharram-Le-Street, Malton

Reports of a fire in farm machinery were received. Crews attended and found a bailer with a bail of straw on fire inside. The fire was tackled and extinguished. The remainder of straw was removed from the machine and damped down. Thermal imaging cameras were used to ensure there were no more hotspots.

TOC 1228 –  Bainbridge, Hawes

Crews were called to reports of smoke coming from a residential property. On arrival crews found that the smoke was coming from cooking.

TOC 1233 – Captain Cooks Monument

crews attended the site of a reported fire in the open. Upon arrival at the reported location crews were unable to find any fire. A full investigation of the area was conducted.

TOC 1357 – Aske, near Skeeby

Reports of a fire in the open were received between Aske Hall and Skeeby. Crews attended the area and carried out a full search. The fire reported was found to be controlled burning.

TOC 1428 – Near to Castle Howard 

crews attended reports of a fire in the open in the vicinity of the Castle Howard Estate. Crews found that the reported fire had been started accidentally by a bird scarer. The fire was found to be out on arrival.

TOC 1145 – Carkehall, Bedale

Fire was reported seen in the open behind a residential premises, upon further investigation the fire was found to be a supervised controlled burning.

TOC 1516 – Allerton Wath Road, Borrowby

Reports of a fire seen in the open were received. Upon arrival crews found approximately 15m of grassland on fire. Crews used a hose reel to extinguish the fire. The cause was believed to have been accidental.

TOC 1527 – Stalling Busk, Hawes

Crews attended the location of a fire reported in a residential premises. The owner reported a kitchen ceiling on fire. On arrival crews investigated and found the fire was based in the airing cupboard above the kitchen. Crews tackled the fire and removed boards to ensure that the fire was fully extinguished.

TOC 1553 – A169, Sleights Bridge, Nr Briggswath

Crews attended a 3 vehicle road traffic collision near Briggswath. Both Ambulance and Police were in attendance. Fire crews made the vehicles and scene safe whilst in attendance.

TOC 1700 – Common land, Abbey walk, Selby

Crews were called to the scene of a grass fire on common land in Selby. On arrival crews found 1 grass verge measuring 5m x 1m on fire. 1 hose reel jet was used to extinguish the fire.
