Incident Summary - Day Shift Thursday 15th June

14th June 2018

TOC 0815 – York Area

Crews were called to a medical facility in the area, in response to an automated fire alarm. Upon arrival and investigation the alert was found to be a false alarm and believed to have been caused by an air freshener activating an automatic fire detection smoke head.

TOC 0820 – Harrogate Area

Crews were requested by the RSPCA to assist with reports of an animal trapped on a roof. When crews arrived, they found a cat trapped on a roof and tangled in telephone wires. Whilst in the process of attempting rescue, the animal freed itself from the wires and made its way to safety.

TOC 1048 – York Area

Reports of a fire alarm at a local school were received and crews attended. Upon investigation crews found that the alarm was false. The cause of the alarm was believed to have been a malicious activation. Crews gave advice on scene.

TOC 1058 – Huby Area

Crews responded to reports of an elderly person requesting assistance at their home address bathroom. Crews attended and assisted the person and left them safely in the care of their home helper.    

TOC 1239 – Selby Area

Crews responded to an automated fire alarm at a health care facility. Upon investigation crews found the alarm was caused by accidental activation of a break glass unit. The fire detection system was reset on scene.

TOC 1259 – Cattal Area

Crews attended an incident at the request of the Ambulance Service to assist with release and management of an agitated horse from its horse box at a road traffic collision. Horse was released from the vehicle by Fire crews and safely placed in a waiting vehicle. Crews used hydraulic equipment to effect release safely.

TOC 1414 – Scarborough Area

Crews attended reports of a fire at a local entertainment venue. Upon arrival crews found smoke issuing from a ground floor toilet. All persons were evacuated safely. Crews tackled the fire and brought it under control and extinguished. Crews ventilated cleared the building of smoke. The fire alarm was reset. The cause of the fire was believed to be an electrical equipment fault.

TOC 1455  Harrogate Area

Crews were called to assist with releasing a person that had become trapped in a passenger lift. The crew attended and released the person from the lift safely and unharmed. The cause of the entrapment was believed to be a power cut to the building.

False alarms:

Crews were called to multiple false alarms throughout the course of the day’s duties.
