Round up of incidents for – Night shift – Tuesday, 20th December, 2016

17:22   Back Lane, Acaster Selby, Selby

 Selby firecrew extinguished a chimney fire in a domestic premises using a hosereel jet and ladders. Cause was due to an accumulation of soot.

 17:24   West Vale, Filey

 Filey firecrew gained access into a domestic premises for a fallen elderly female. Crews gave first aid to casualty and left in care of paramedics.

 17:26   North Lane, Huntington

 Huntington firecrew responded to reports of a RTC. On their arrival it was found to be a minor RTC only and no fire brigade assistance was required.

 18:03   Back Lane, Copt Hewick.

 Ripon firecrew assisted a homeowner with a chimney fire. Fire believed out on firecrews arrival. Inspection carried out via thermal imaging equipment, and advice given. Cause believed to be due to an accumulation of soot.

 19:08   Fountayne Road, Filey

 After receiving a call from the Ambulance service, Filey firecrews attended a property under renovation which had had a fire believed to have started after petrol had been applied to clean a lino with the petrol fumes igniting due to a nearby gas heater. X2 females suffered smoke inhalation and were treat at scene by paramedics. The fire had been extinguished by a third renovator with a bucket of water.

 22:07   Ousegate, Selby

 Selby firecrews responded to a smoke alarm activation at a premises which was found to have activated due to cooking fumes.


 00:39   Providence Terrace, Harrogate

 Harrogate firecrews attended a bedroom fire in a domestic premises which caused extensive fire and smoke damage to bedroom only. Cause, after fire investigation,  is believed to be due to an electrical fault. Firecrews used a hosereel, breathing apparatus, thermal imaging camera and smoke clearance equipment, and fitted smoke alarms.

 02:04   Ebor Street, Selby

 Selby firecrews extinguished a fire to the exterior of a domestic premises which had spread from an outside metal bin. Fire damage to exterior windows and doors. The cause, after fire investigation, believed to be due to a discarded cigarette which ignited a quantity of previously discarded cigarettes in a metal bin which then spread to an adjacent fence, which then spread to the property exterior. Firecrews used x2 hosereel jets and breathing apparatus.
