Breaking News – Monday 30th October 2017

Cornwall Road, Harrogate Time of call: 18:03

Crews from Harrogate, Knaresborough and Wetherby have attended reports of a carpet on fire within a block of residential flats. The fire spread to curtains and a windowsill causing total damage to the curtains and slight damage to carpet and windowsill. One casualty was treated by our crews for smoke inhalation before being transferred into the care of paramedics on scene.  Crews used 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel, thermal imaging camera,  a positive pressure ventilation fan and oxygen therapy. Cause is believed to be curtains catching fire from lamp.

 

Northfields Crescent, Settle Time of call: 19:08

A crew from Settle have assisted ambulance crews in releasing a casualty who had their leg stuck between stair banisters. Crews used small tools and manpower to release casualty.

 

Mill Lane, Selby Time of call: 22:07

 

A crew from Selby have extinguished 20 hay bales out of a stack of 40 bales. Crews created fire breaks using winch, strops and lines and dampened down surrounding area using a hose reel. The cause is believed to be deliberate.

 

Castle Road, Scarborough Time of call: 22:24

 

Crews from Scarborough have attended an automatic fire alarm. This was caused due to water within a faulty detector head.

 

A1 M Southbound Junction 48 Time of call: 00:08

Crews from Ripon, Boroughbridge and Thirsk have attended reports of a van that had overturned in the centre of the southbound carriageway with persons trapped inside. On arrival no persons were trapped within the vehicle and crews made the vehicle safe using e-Spreaders and hooligan tool.

York Road, York Time of call: 03:46

A crew from York have attended an automatic fire alarm. This was caused due to a system fault.

Ings Lane, Skipton Time of call: 06:35

 

A crew from Skipton have attended an automatic fire alarm. On arrival crews found a small fire which was confined to a cardboard expanding machine. Crews removed contents of machine to a safe location and left in hands of responsible person. Crews used hand tools.
