Incident Summary Night Shift Friday 9th February 2018


Crews have attended a number of automatic fire alarms today in Helmsley and Knaresborough. Thankfully these were all false alarms.


Belle Vue Street, York

Time of call: 17:28


A crew from Acomb have extinguished a chimney fire this evening.  The fire was believed to be caused by an accumulation of soot and was extinguished via an inspection panel into the chimney. Crews removed the burner from the property and used their chimney kit, thermal imaging camera, wildfire backpack and small tools.

Sixth Avenue, York

Time of call: 17:48


A crew from Huntington have released one female from a lift using lift keys.


School Lane, York

Time of call: 18:22


Crews from York and Huntington have attended a fire in a domestic property. The fire involved wood placed close to a log burner and caught fire due to the heat. Crews used two breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet, positive pressure ventilation fan, thermal imaging camera and door enforcer to extinguish the fire.  


Smithy Close, Leyburn

Time of call: 19:46


A crew from Leyburn have extinguished some burning embers that were confined to a small area near the chimney. Crews used chimney rods, bottle of water and thermal imaging camera.


Coach Road, Whitby

Time of call: 22:12


A crew from Whitby and Lythe have removed flood water from properties in Sleights. The flood was believed to be caused due to a burst water main and a water company engineer isolated the main. Crews used poly boom to divert water away from properties and buckets of water.
