Crews have attended automatic fire alarms in Acomb, Ripon,  Harrogate, Kirkbymoorside, Scarborough, Sherburn and Selby this evening. Thankfully these were a false alarm.

 

A1M Northbound, Boroughbridge to Dishforth

Time of call: 18:06

 

Crews from Boroughbridge, Knaresborough, Ripon and Thirsk have attended a heavy goods vehicle that had jack knifed and collided with the central reservation. The fuel tank of the vehicle had ruptured causing approximately 150 litres of diesel to spill onto the road. Crews contained and soaked the spill up using drizit pads from our environmental protection packs.

A crew from Sherburn have attended a log burner fire within a residential property. The fire was out on arrival and crews investigated the log burner and surrounding area with a thermal imaging camera to check the fire had not spread.

A crew from Harrogate have attended a chimney fire within a residential property. The fire was confined to the chimney flue and crews used chimney rods and kit to extinguish the fire.

 

Colescliffe Crescent, Scarborough

Time of call: 19:25

 

Crews from Scarborough have attended reports of a tree in a dangerous position. Crews assessed this but left in the hands of local council.

Crews from Harrogate have extinguished a chimney fire which was believed to be caused due to a accumulation of soot. Crews used an aerial ladder platform, one hose reel, thermal imaging camera and small tools.

Crews from Malton have attended a chimney fire within a terraced property. Crews extinguished the fire using chimney kit and thermal imaging camera. The cause is believed to be due to accumulation of soot.

A crew from Whitby have assisted ambulance crews transport a casualty from a property after they had fallen during the night. Crews used manpower and hooligan tool to gain entry and assist the paramedics.
