Fire at North Lane York

Location:North Lane, York

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a fire on North Lane in York at 00:50 on Wednesday 29th April. Fire engines from Acomb and York were sent to the scene.

On their arrival fire crews found a fire in a flat. One casualty was rescued from the building and taken to hospital by ambulance where he was sadly pronounced dead.

Fire crews used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire, and a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke from the building.

North Yorkshire police and ourselves are making enquiries to establish the cause of the fire, which is at this time unexplained.
