Incident Summary Nightshift Sunday 22nd July 2018

17:06 Grimbald Road, Knaresborough
Crews from Knaresborough and Harrogate attended reports of a fire in a building. On their arrival they found a fire to a bookcase and other stationary. The fire caused 20% fire damage and 100% smoke damage to the room. The fire was extinguished by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, using a main jet. They also used a positive pressue ventilation fan to clear smoke. A Fire Investigation Officer attended, along with North Yorkshire Police and the cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.

17:56  Cawood, Selby

A fire crew from Selby attended an incident where bales of hay had self combusted. Crews used 1 Hose Reel Jet to dampen the bales and extinguish the fire.

18:36  Bachelor Hill, York

A fire crew from Acomb attended a grass fire which measured 5m by 5m. Crews used beaters and a bucket of water to extinguish the fire.

19:47 A63 Lumby

A fire crew from Selby attended a large rubbish fire measuring approx. 10 sqm. Crews extinguished the fire using a Hose Reel and pitch fork. Cause is believed to be deliberate.

20:47  Burton Stone Lane, York

A fire crew from Acomb attended a grass fire which they extinguished using beaters. Cause is believed to be deliberate

22:22  Holmefield Lane, York

A fire crew from Huntington attended reports of an alarm sounding which on arrival was a false alarm.

22:29  Lendal Bridge River Ouse, York

Fire crews from York and Acomb attended reports of a male in the river. On arrival the male had managed to get himself out of the river and was in the hands of the Police. No action required from the fire service.

23:21  Thornton Le Street

Fire crews from Thirsk attended to a bonfire in a wood. They used 1 Hose Reel to extinguish the fire which is believed to have self ignited.

23rd July 

00:21  Knaresborough

Fire crews from Knaresborough attended reports of an electrical inspection chamber in a pavement smoking, crews stood by to ensure scene was safe and incident was left for Northern Power to deal with.

05:46 Burn Bridge, Harrogate

Harrogate and Knaresborough crews attended a fire to a wheelie bin close to a house. Fire damage had spread from the bin and caused damage to floorboards, wiring, cavity wall insultation and joists of a  house. The fire to the bin was believed to have started due to hot ashes being place in it, the fire  then spread through an airbrick.
