Incident Summary Wednesday 4th October Day Shift

Please see below a round up of incidents from Wednesday 4th October Day Shift

Time 0700 – Heslington Road, York

Crews from York and Acomb responded to reports of a fire alarm sounding in a flat accompanied by a smell of smoke. Crews found a small fire in a light fitting which was already out on their arrival. Small amount of fire damage only to the light fitting.

Time 0755 – A59 Skip Bridge

Acomb crew investigated a van issuing a large amount of smoke from the engine compartment. No fire found, the smoke came from oil leaking onto a hot exhaust manifold.

Time 0756 – Water Lane, York

York crew isolated the electricity in a domestic property after water leaked from a bathroom through the ceiling below.  Crews liaised with the family of the elderly occupants to ensure their comfort and safety.

Time 0855 – Hudswell Area

Richmond crew mobilised to reports of a large amount of smoke in the Hudswell area.  Crews found a large amount of controlled burning under supervision – advice given only.

Time 1225 – Sheepfoot Hill, Malton

Malton crew assisted the Ambulance Service with a difficult extraction of a patient from a domestic property on a stretcher.  Crewpower used.

Time 1548 – Falsgrave Road, Scarborough

Scarborough crews assisted the police by removing glass from a broken window above commercial premises.  The glass could have posed a risk to the public below. Crews used the Aerial Ladder Platform to access the window.

In addition to the above incidents our Fire crews attended an automatic fire alarm calls in Knaresborough, it was a false alarm.
