Response to FBU Ballot Result

29th August 2013

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is aware of the result of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) ballot, which was announced today.

Members of the FBU have voted in favour of industrial action over the Government’s reform of firefighter pension schemes.

At this time no strike dates have been announced and we hope that the dispute between the FBU and the Government can still be resolved.

We are continuing with the contingency planning, that we have been undertaking over the past few weeks, to ensure that we will be able to respond to emergency incidents if strikes do go ahead.
