Training Exercise to take place in York on 2nd April

1st April 2016

Firefighters will be carrying out a training exercise at a student accommodation block in York tomorrow morning (Saturday 2nd April).

The exercise will simulate a fire in a student accommodation block with reports of a number of people being inside the building who will require rescue.

The Service regularly undertakes realistic training exercises which are designed to simulate operational incidents of varying complexity and assure the high standards in emergency response are maintained and improved.

Station Manager Pete Gregory said "We would like to reassure the public that they may see a large number of fire engines at Catherine House on Heslington Road tomorrow, this is for a planned training exercise.

"Undertaking these kinds of training exercises helps us test the effectiveness of our response, and continually improve our service to the community."
