Fire Hose Damaged in Selby

17th December 2015

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has had 7 lengths of hose damaged at the former Wagstaffs site at Great Heck.

14 metal couplings (connectors) have been stolen from the hose, and their removal has caused damage to the hose, some of which may be unrepairable.

Group Manager Dave Dryburgh said: “As an emergency service all the equipment we use is important in our response to emergencies, and it is despicable that someone would damage it in this manner.

We have contingency plans in place for damaged equipment, so our ability to respond to incidents will not be compromised by this occurrence.”

The theft and damage have been reported to North Yorkshire Police and their enquiries are on-going.
