Round up of incidents during today’s Industrial Action

25th September 2013

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service would like to thank the public for taking extra care during the industrial action that took place today (Wednesday 25th September 2013).

We attended a total of 5 incidents between 12noon and 4pm. These included 3 automatic fire alarms which were attended by operational officers in cars, a lift rescue in Masham, and an incident in Scarborough where we are assisting North Yorkshire Police. This incident is currently on-going. We also received one hoax call from the Northallerton area.

Chief Fire Officer Nigel Hutchinson said; “I would like to thank the public for heeding our advice, and keeping the number of emergency calls we received this afternoon at a minimum.

We had over half our fire engines available to attend incidents should they have been required, but I’m happy to say that we only attended 5 incidents in the whole county during the strike period, and none of these were fires.”

Following the earlier industrial action our normal service has now resumed and we will be attending calls as normal.

Added at 4:45pm on the 25th September.
