Stay Safe for Le Tour

13th May 2014

The Tour de France Grand Depart is heading to North Yorkshire on the 5th and 6th July 2014.

 If you’re planning to go and watch this huge sporting even, follow our safety tips and have a safe and enjoyable time.

  •  Only light barbecues in designated areas.
  • Don’t leave bottles or glass in woodlands, as sunlight shining through glass can start fires.
  • Dispose of cigarettes carefully, especially if grass and woodland is particularly dry.
  • If you’re camping, keep cooking appliances away from tent walls and never cook inside a small tent.
  • Only park in designated areas, don’t block access points.
  • If you’re staying in a caravan, never leave pans unattended when you’re cooking and make sure you turn all appliances off before you go to bed.

 If the Tour has inspired you to take to two wheels;

  • Protect yourself with a helmet
  • Be visible to other road users-wear bright or fluorescent clothing
  • Make your intentions clear to other road users, always looks and signal before start, stop or turn.
