Northallerton's Young Firefighterss Pass Out

19th July 2011
7 Young Firefighters passed out at a ceremony at Northallerton Fire Station on the 19th July 2011.
The ceremony was held to recognise the hard work and dedication of the Young Firefighters, all of whom have successfully completed a BTEC Level 2 qualification.
Station Manager Bob Hoskins who introduced to Young Firefighter Scheme to NYFRS says: “The Young Fire Fighters BTEC Scheme has been developed to make a positive difference to the safety of the local community, through the teaching of fire service skills to young persons. This will enable them to them to appreciate the qualities of a good citizen and to develop themselves through an understanding of the roles and responsibilities in society.”
Firefighter Jim Thorpe who leads the Young Firefighter Scheme at Northallerton says: “I would like to say well done to all the young people who received their award on Tuesday. They have all worked very hard and should be very proud of their achievements.”
We are looking for new young firefighters to join our course starting in September. If you are between 14 and 15 years on 1st September 2011 and would be interested in joining the Young Firefighters scheme at Northallerton please contact either Jim Thorpe or Alistair James on (01609) 751010 for more information.
