Selby Drive Wise- December 2005Selby Community Safety Partnership in partnership with North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and North Yorkshire Police are running the second Drive Wise initiative at Selby fire station on Sunday 11th December starting at 0930. This initiative was originally conceived by Firefighter Tony Walker and Police Constable Andy Patchett. They set out to devise a course that would improve the behaviour of young drivers in the Selby area. The intention was that the course was an alternative option available to the courts where individuals could be educated using the skills of the various emergency services. Course ContentLegal requirements and guidance on road safety law. Road Traffic Collisions, causes of crashes, seatbelt safety and the damage/consequences of an RTC. Effects of collisions on the human body. Road Traffic Collision Demonstration. Driving reaction testing.
The course lasts 4-6 hours. The last scheme was very well received with one attendee gaining a reduction on his insurance premium of £180. For more information please contact: Jez Rushworth at Selby Fire Station, Tel 01757 702453 |
