Play with Football, not with Fire! - Firefighters want to Keep Youngsters Safe this Holiday

 

 

Scarborough Firefighters are trying a new initiative, hoping to keep youngsters safe this holiday. The event is called ‘Play with football - Not with Fire'

In partnership with Scarborough Football Club and the East Riding County Football Association, Firefighters are holding a football skills day on Wednesday the 9th August from 1000am to 300pm. The event is being held at the McCain Stadium, Seamer Road Scarborough.

The event is open to all young people aged between 6 - 12 years. The cost is £5 which goes to charity.

Watch Manager Dave Pitt from Scarborough Fire Station says "We are calling on youngsters who want to come along and have a fun day, improving their football skills. All coaches are Football Association qualified and we have some players from Scarborough's first team helping" He continues "We have a limited number of places available and are allocated on a first come, first served basis. We want to give local youngsters the chance to improve their football skills, learning from professionals." He finishes by saying "We welcome Girls and Boys to come along, it doesn't matter if you are a beginner, or more experienced, the day is suitable for all abilities."

The day is open to friends and families also. There will be a penalty shoot out competition, Fire Engine, Turntable Ladder, Chip pan fire demonstration, face painting and other fun activities. Admission is free to get involved with these activities. Everybody is welcome to come along and watch the football or take part in the free activities.
