Woman Rescued from Property Fire 14/03/2006
FIREFIGHTERS RESCUE WOMAN FROM HOUSE FIRE A woman has been rescued from a fire in a ground floor flat in Woodfield Drive, Harrogate. North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service Control received the first call at 1523hrs on Monday 13th March 2006. Two fire appliances from Harrogate were immediately mobilised. Two fire appliances from Harrogate were immediately mobilised. The appliances were quickly in attendance at the property. Crews were confronted by a heavily smoke logged flat, with one person reported missing inside.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus were quickly deployed to search for the missing person and extinguish the fire. One woman was rescued by Firefighters. The woman, aged 70 was the only occupant of the flat at the time of fire. The woman was treated by ambulance personnel and transferred to hospital. At this time her condition is reported to be satisfactory.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Harrogate Group Manager Nigel Phillips says”We will be carrying out Fire Safety visits in the area over the next few days. I would urge householders to approach crews in the area if they need help or advice regarding Fire Safety.” He added “The Harrogate Fire Safety Advice line number is 01423 504082 or 01609 788545.
