Bonfire Night Collection DayNorthallerton Bonfire Night Collection Day August 4th This year North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the bonfire night event held in the Applegarth Northallerton each year. This event is organised by staff from Northallerton Fire Station, to enable residents of Northallerton and surrounding towns/villages to come along to a properly organised display for free. The hope is that people will come along to such an event instead of buying fireworks themselves as every year hundreds of people are injured by fireworks. From 2000-2005 6,637 people were hurt and required hospital treatment, the majority of these injuries occurred at family/private parties. For this years celebration we are planning on holding a special 'one off' choreographed display, but to do this we need to raise approximately £10,000. In order to raise the extra funds needed we are organising a street collection in Northallerton High Street on Saturday 4th August. If people are interested in donating to this cause they should contact Mark Pinder at Northallerton Fire Station (01609 751010) or come and see us at the street collection on the 4th August. |
