Drink Driving Campaign Saturday 8th December

Title:               Drink Driving Campaign Saturday 8th December 0930-1500

Date:               30/11/2007

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue are joining forces with partner agencies to warn people of the dangers of drink driving.

Members of North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, North Yorkshire Police, Road Safety Officers, and the Army are holding an event on Saturday 8th December 2007 at Sainsbury’s Car Park in Ripon to highlight the devastating and often long term effects that drink driving can have.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service will be taking along a crashed car in the hope it will bring home to people how dangerous it can be to drink and drive; they will also have a Community Safety Vehicle there and will be able to offer advice. North Yorkshire Police are attending with a mobile police station and are hoping to highlight to people that it’s not just their driving licence they could lose through drink driving, it could be their lives.

All the agencies involved want to reduce the number of incidents caused by drink driving and the costs these have for the community.

We would like to invite the media to come along on the day and help us publicise the dangers of drink driving.
