Job description:

North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service invites applicants for the post of Group Manager (B) to join our Service Delivery Team. We would like to hear from competent, highly motivated, flexible and adaptable Station and Group Managers who would like to be considered for the position. The successful applicant will have responsibility for the Hambleton and Richmondshire district area. 

The post is conditioned to the Flexible Duty system in accordance with the Scheme of Conditions of Service and is Politically Restricted.  The contract of employment will require you to work in any post appropriate to your role at such other place of employment in the Authority's services as may be required.  

The starting salary will be £44,018.00 which is Group Manager (development) rate of pay, unless the appointed employee is already, or has been, deemed a competent Group Manager.  In addition, 20% of basic pay flexible duty allowance and 7% of basic pay second call allowance is payable. 

Applicants should meet the following essential criteria:

  • Wholetime, competent and substantive in the role of Station Manager for at least 12 months
  • In date for all operational training in line with your current service training policy
  • Prepared to provide a suitable location to provide operational cover within the county of North Yorkshire and City of York (As agreed with the ACFO Operations)
  • Willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure check
  • Have a satisfactory Personal Development Review, Appraisal or equivalent within the last year
  • Not be in possession of any formal disciplinary sanctions at the point of application
  • Not be subject to any informal or formal development plans within current role at point of application
  • Acceptable references received from current Fire and Rescue Service
  • Be medically fit to undertake the role of operational Group Manager
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Align to the Services corporate values (PROTECT)

Please note that candidates may be requested to attend an assessment day at the Services Training Centre. (Date TBC).
