Incident Summary – Night Shift 20th October

To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Time: 17:05

Location: Whitby

Whitby crew were called to reports of a hedge on fire. Upon arrival they found this to be a false alarm good intent due to it being a camp fire under control.

Time: 22:59

Location: Ripon

Ripon crew were called to reports of flooding inside a property affecting the ground floor and possibly the electrics of the building. Upon arrival the crew found a 4 inch water main had burst causing flooding to the entire ground floor of the building. The lift shaft was also flooded and crews isolated the water externally. Crews isolated power supply to lift shaft. The crew then pumped out the lift shaft and attempted to remove as much water as possible using an ejector pump, hose lengths and small tools. The incident was left with staff on site for engineers to attend.

Crews from across the county have also attended a number of automatic fire alarms throughout the night, all of which have resulted in false alarms for a variety of reasons including, faulty alarm, electronic cigarette smoke and broken glass point.
