Round up of Bonfire/Firework related incidents 5th and 6th Nov

Here’s a round-up of the bonfire and firework related incidents we attended on 5th and 6th November.

(Please be aware that not all the small fires/bonfires may be bonfire night related)

5th November

02:22 Catterick Garrison- building fire

Crews from Colburn and Richmond attended a fire to furniture stored within a garage believed to have been caused by a stray firework.

17:39  Whinny Hagg Lane, Hambleton, Selby- small fire in open

A crew from Selby used a hose reel jet to extinguish a bonfire that was too large

20:28 East Row car park, Sandsend, Whitby- small fire in open

A crew from Whitby used a hose reel jet to extinguish a rubbish/bin fire caused by fireworks being set off next to rubbish

21:24 Bankhead, Knaresborough- small fire in open

A crew from Knaresborough used a hose reel to extinguish a fire to a small area of hedge and a wheelie bin, caused by a stray firework.

21:48 Kingsway North, York- false alarm

A crew from Acomb attended reports of a bonfire being relit. On their arrival they found the remains of an organised bonfire with only ash remaining. No action required.

22:56 Area of A684, Bainbridge-small fire in open

A crew from Hawes used knapsack sprayers and beaters to extinguish the remains of a bonfire

6th November

11:58 Applegarth, Northallerton- small fire in open

A crew from Northallertin attended reports of a bonfire from the previous night still smoking. One hose reel used to extinguish hot spots

15:00 Windsor Garth, York- small fire in open

A crew from Acomb attended a bonfire left unattended. One hose reel jet used to extinguish the fire.

17:56 Pickering- false alarm good intent

A crew from Pickering attended reports of a fire, this was a bonfire under supervision. No action taken

18:19 Falsgrave Road, Scarborough- small fire in open

A bonfire had been set alight by youths under the underpass. One hose reel jet used to extinguish it by a crew from Scarborough

18:57 Carlton, Selby- small fire in open

A crew from Selby extinguished a bonfire after the wind was causing hot embers to fall on to nearby caravans One main jet used.
