Incident Summary – 22nd May 2022 Night Shift

17:40 Byland Avenue, York
Crews from York and Huntington responded to a report of a fire in an oven in a residential property. On arrival crews found that there had been a small fire in an oven due to an excessive amount of grease. Crews ventilated the property and gave advice to the occupant.

18:51 Firthland Road, Pickering
Crews from Pickering and Malton responded to a report of a fire in a derelict building. On their arrival, crews found a small bonfire that had been left unattended in the fireplace of a derelict building. Crews extinguished the fire and details were passed to the police.

21:11 Riccall, Selby
A crew from Selby responded to a report of an alarm sounding in a commercial premises. Crews found this to be a false alarm due to cooking fumes in the flat above.

22:39 Esplanade, Scarborough
A crew from Scarborough responded to a report of an alarm sounding in a residential premises. Crews found this to be a false alarm due to a faulty detector. Advice was given to the occupant.

23:26 The Crescent, Selby
A crew from Selby responded to a request from police to assist searching for an individual believed to be on the roof of a property. Crews assisted the police in searching the roof using a 9m ladder and lighting. Crews also carried out a full search of scaffolding for the individual. No persons were located by fire crews. The incident was left in the hands of the police.

23:44 Selby Road, Eggborough
Crews from Selby responded to a report of smoke and fire seen in the open. Crews located a fire involving straw topped arable crop. Crews used beaters and pitch forks to extinguish the fire and create a fire break.

00:07 Davygate, York
A crew from York responded to a report of an alarm activation at a commercial premises. Crews found this to be a false alarm due to a fault on the system. Advice was given to a responsible person.

04:25 Thirsk
Thirsk fire crew responded to a report of a female trapped in her bedroom following a lock failure. Tools used to free female.

05:03 Acomb
Acomb fire crew extinguished approx. twelve 6″ rear garden fence panels, with use of a hose reel.
