Incident Summary 30/11/2023 – Night Shift

To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred. 

Time:  19:30   Location: Swainby

Northallerton crew attended a water leak in a domestic property that was affecting the electrics. Crews stemmed the leak and isolated both the water supply and the electrics to the boiler. Advice was given for the homeowner to contact an engineer.

Time:  19:56   Location: Leeds Road, Harrogate

Harrogate attended an automatic fire alarm activation at a residential building. This was a false alarm caused by cooking fumes. Crews gave advice to residents.

Time:  20:08   Location: Skipton-On-Swale

Thirsk attended a chimney fire at a domestic property. Crews used a 13.5m ladder, roof ladder, harness, lighting and radios to extinguish the fire from the top of the chimney. Advice was then given to the homeowner. The cause of the fire was due an accumulation of soot.

Time:  20:11   Location: Trafalgar Square, Scarborough

Both appliances from Scarborough attended reports of a gas leak in a residential building. On arrival crews confirmed the occupant had isolated the gas and ventilated the property awaiting the arrival of the gas board. No action was required by fire service crews.

Time:  23:46   Location: York Road, Harrogate

Knaresborough crew were requested to assist Yorkshire Ambulance Service with lifting a bariatric casualty from a domestic property. A casualty drag sheet and crew power was used to transfer the casualty to an ambulance. Incident then left in the hands of paramedics.

Time:  01:08   Location: Walmgate, York

Yorkshire Ambulance Service requested crew to gain entry to a domestic property to allow paramedics to treat a casualty inside. On arrival of crews entry had already been gained and no action was required by fire service.

Time:  01:40   Location: Hawes

Hawes attended an automatic fire alarm activation at a museum. After an investigation this was found to be a false alarm due to an unknown cause. The incident was then left with a keyholder

Time:  01:50   Location: Wiggington Road, York

York attended an automatic fire alarm activation at a hospital building. This was found to be a false alarm caused by accidental activation of a manual call point by a patient. Crews gave advice to staff.

Time:  02:00   Location: Dringhouses, York

Acomb attended an automatic fire alarm activation in a domestic property. This was found to be a false alarm caused by water ingress into the detector head. Crews gave advice.

Time: 03:34   Location: Coverdale area, Leyburn

Leyburn and Grassington attended following a report of a fire inside a domestic property. On arrival of the fire service, the fire was out and had been extinguished by the occupier. Fire involved logs stored close to a log burning stove. Inspection carried out and advice given.

Time: 04:34  Location: Northallerton

Northallerton crew attended an automatic fire alarm activation at a domestic property. On arrival and following investigation, crew confirmed this to be a false alarm due to a fault in the system.
