Incident Summary – 20th February 2024 Night Shift

20:05  Spring Street, Easingwold
Easingwold crew attended reports of heavy smoke logging in a takeaway restaurant. On arrival crews confirmed a small fire to a gas ring. Crews extinguished the fire and ventilated the property using a positive pressure fan. The cause of the fire was accidental.

20:47 Ashbourne Way, York
Acomb appliance were mobilised to reports of a fire in a wooded area. Crews extinguished a small rubbish fire using backpack sprayers and shovels. The cause of the fire was deliberate.

22:23 Amy Johnson Way, York
Acomb attended an automatic fire alarm at a commercial unit. This was a false alarm with the cause being unknow.

22:56 Thorpe Willoughby
Selby assisted paramedics and a Emergency Fire Responder with transporting a female casualty from a domestic property to a ambulance. A casualty sheet was used at the incident and crews arranged to complete a follow up ‘Safe & Well’ visit.

23:06 North Street, Ripon
An appliance from Ripon assisted paramedics with transporting a male bariatric casualty from the first floor domestic property to an ambulance. Crews used a casualty sheet and the male was taken to hospital for further treatment.

23:26 Glusburn
Skipton attended an automatic fire alarm at a residential building. This was a false alarm due to an unknown cause. Crews gave advice to on site staff.

23:34 Kirkby Malzeard
Ripon, Masham and Bedale attended a single vehicle RTC where a Vauxhall Astra impacted a tree. Of the 4 occupants in the vehicle, 3 were extricated by crews via a full door and roof removal. All 4 casualties were taken to hospital via ambulance with suspected C-spine injuries. Crews used lighting, stabilisation equipment, small tools, hydraulic spreaders/cutters and sharps protection. The incident was then left in the hands of North Yorkshire Police.

01:22 Bridge Street, York 
York attended an automatic fire alarm at a restaurant. This was a false alarm due to steam. Crews gave advice to staff.

02:14 Off Filey Road, Scarborough

A fire crew from Scarborough assisted Police in gaining entry to a property on behalf of ambulance service in order for them to gain access to a casualty within. Crews initially attempted to gain entry via the door using their specialist equipment but had to resort to breaking a small window to gain access. The property was then secured and the casualty left in care of ambulance service.

03:04 Off Osbaldwick Lane, York

York fire crew assisted police in gaining entry to a property on their behalf to allow access for ambulance personnel. crews used their specialist door entry kit to gain access for paramedics and casualty was left in their care.
