Incident Summary – Night Shift, Friday 24th May

To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Sandsend Road, Whitby – 17:25

Crews from Whitby responded to a vehicle fire towing a caravan. Crews extinguished the car fire using 2 sets of breathing apparatus and 1 hose reel. The caravan was uninvolved by fire.

Gildercliffe, Scarborough – 19:05

Scarborough crews assisted police with an unsafe vehicle with exposed wiring. The vehicle was moved to a safe location and left in the hand of a responsible person.

Green Lane, York – 22:25

Crews from Acomb responded to a car fire near to some residential properties. Crews used 2 hose reel jets to extinguish.

Askham Lane, York – 22:29

York crews responded to reports of a fire in the open in a field. This was a false alarm due to controlled burning.

Crag Lane, Low Bradley – 22:31

Skipton crews responded to reports of a fire seen on moorland. This was a false alarm with no fire found.

Cleveland Terrace – 23:49

Crews from Whitby attended a bin fire near to residential properties. Crews extinguished the bin fire using 1 hose reel jet.

Briggswath, Whitby – 01:31

Whitby crews assisted an elderly female who had fallen inside a residential property and was unable to get up. Crews assisted female to her feet and left her in hands of neighbours.

A1 N, J51 Leeming Bar to Catterick – 05:27

Crews from Bedale, Northallerton and Richmond responded to a lorry on fire carrying non hazardous materials. Crews extinguished the fire using two hose reel jets, four breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera. The incident is still ongoing awaiting the cause. No persons were injured.

 

Crews from Scarborough responded to numerous alarm activations during the night, these were all false alarms.
