Incident Summary – Tuesday Nightshift, 3rd September 2024

Time: 17:31  Location: Near Thirsk

A crew from Thirsk responded to reports of a fire seen on the side of the road measuring approximately 3 metres by 3 metres. Crews found this fire left unattended and extinguished it using two hose reel jets. Advice was given to the responsible person once they had come forward.

Time: 18:22  Location: Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to an activated fire alarm activated. This was caused by cooking fumes. Crews ventilated the property naturally and advice was given to the occupant but they declined a full home fire safety visit .

Time: 20:56  Location: Acomb

Crews from Acomb and York responded to a fire near a residential property. On arrival, crews found the fire to be some controlled burning in the back garden. Crews gave advice to occupant.

Time: 21:13  Location: Hawes

A crew from Hawes responded to an activated fire alarm inside a public building. Crews completed a full thermal inspection of the building and found no sign of fire. Crews also completed an inspection of the inside once key holders arrived to give them access. This was confirmed a false alarm and the cause of the alarm was due to faulty equipment.

A crew from Richmond responded to fire reported behind a commercial building. On inspection, crews found this to be a garden incinerator left unattended. Crews gave advice to the responsible person.

Time: 21:21 Location: Scarborough 

A crew from Scarborough responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential building. This was caused by a fault on the system. Crews gave advice and the incident was left in the hands of a engineer.

A crew from York responded to a small fire in the open. Crews extinguished the fire using buckets of water.

Time: 21:55  Location: Harrogate

A crew from Harrogate responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential building. This was caused by cooking fumes and confirmed a false alarm.

Time: 22:22  Location: Acomb

A crew from Acomb inspected smoke which had reportedly been sighted underneath a bridge. Crews completed a full inspection of the area, including an inspection of the nearby park but also found no sign of smoke or fire.

Time: 01:17  Location: Ripon

A crew from Ripon responded to flooding inside the premises of a property. Crews used an ejector pump to clear 2 to 3 inches of water from inside which had disbursed from a burst pipe.

Time: 03:01  Location: Filey

A crew from Filey responded to a request from a carer to assist in gaining access to an elderly female who had fallen behind a door within her premises. Access gained and resident moved to sofa. Carer will remain until arrival of ambulance.

There was also an automatic fire alarm responded to in: Stokesley which proved to be a false alarm.
