Incident Summary – Wednesday Nightshift, 4th September 2024
Time: 17:04 Location: Acomb
Crews from Acomb and York responded to a road traffic collision involving 3 vehicles. All persons were out prior to crews arrival. Police and Ambulance were also in attendance. Our crews created a shelter using the triple exterior ladder and salvage sheet due to adverse weather conditions to shelter the casualties while they received treatment from ambulance staff. Crews continued to provide scene safety before all casualties were taken to hospital via road. The incident was left in the hands of police and highways who were cleaning oil and fuel from the road.

A crew from Malton responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential building. The cause of this alarm was due to faulty equipment. Crews completed a full inspection including the attic space and found no sign of smoke or fire. Advice was given to the responsible person who is arranging an engineer to fix the alarm system. This was confirmed a false alarm.
Time: 19:51 Location: Near Tadcaster
Both Tadcaster crews and their water bowser responded to a large fire in a field. Crews used two main jets and machinery from a local farmer to turn over the contents of the fire so it could be extinguished quicker. Crews also used lighting and small tools to work safely.

A crew from York responded to an activated smoke alarm inside a residential property. The cause of the alarm was due to smoking materials. Crews completed a home fire safety visit with the occupant and gave advice.
Time: 20:19 Location: York
A crew from York responded to a bin on fire in a public area. Crews extinguished the bin using a hose reel jet. The cause was believed to had been a disposed cigarette which was not fully extinguished.
Time: 00:20 Location: Harrogate
A crew from Harrogate responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential building. After our crews completed an inspection, they found the cause of the alarm to be accidental. Crews gave advice.
Time: 03:36 Location: Northallerton
Police on behalf of Ambulance, requested Fire attendance to gain entry to a premises where it was believed that the elderly occupant had fallen within. Occupant found in bed. Incident left with Ambulance.
They were also fire alarm activations attended in: York. All proved false alarms.
