Incident summary for Night shift – 13 October, 2024

To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Time: 17:19   Location: A1 northbound, Allerton Park

Fire crews from Knaresborough, Tadcaster and Wetherby responded to a report of a van on fire. On arrival this was found to be a false alarm due to the van suffering a mechanical failure.

Time: 18:22   Location: Kirkby Overblow

Harrogate responded to a report of smoke sighted. On arrival this was found to be a false alarm due to it being controlled burning.

Time: 19:11   Location: Harrogate

Harrogate and Knaresborough responded to a smell of burning within flats. Following investigation this was found to be melting insulation to a passenger lift switch gear. Fire crew isolated the power and monitored the overheated component responsible with a thermal camera until it cooled.

Time: 22:47  Location: Filey

Crew from Filey responded to reports of smoke in the area. This was found to be a controlled burn under supervision.

Time: 23:11  Location: Acomb

Crew from Acomb responded to a small fire within a park. Crew located a fire consisting of paper and plastic that had been started deliberately. They extinguished using 1 hose reel jet.

There were also fire alarm activations responded to by: York, Selby, Tadcaster and Whitby.  All proved false alarms.
