Incident Summary – Friday Nightshift, 29th November 2024

To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Time: 17:12  Location: Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to a garden fire which had become out of control. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet due to its size. Advice was given.

Time: 19:23  Location: Easingwold

A crew from Easingwold assisted ambulance staff with the difficult extrication of a patient from their property. Crew power used only.

Time: 20:18  Location: Acomb

A crew from Acomb responded to a chip pan fire in the kitchen of a domestic property. This was out prior to crews arrival however crews ventilated the property using a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear some smoke logging which had spread around the property.

Time: 21:14  Location: Boroughbridge

Crews from Thirsk and both crews from Ripon responded to a vehicle on fire on the slip road of a major road. Crews extinguished the fire wearing breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet. Crews waited with the occupants until the arrival of highways. Incident was left in the hands of Highways.

Time: 22:44  Location: Acomb

A crew from Acomb responded to a boiler leaking inside a domestic property with concerns from the occupant that it could affect the electrics. Crews attended and found the leak had stopped with no damage to the property. Advice was given to the occupant and crews arranged for gas engineer to contact occupant shortly after leaving the scene.

Time: 23:21  Location: York

A crew from York responded to a person who was trapped in a lift shaft and underneath the lift itself, uninjured. Crews used a socket set to access and release the person from the lift. Incident was left with onsite staff who were awaiting arrival of lift engineer to isolate the system.

Time: 00:29   Location: Harrogate

A crew from Harrogate assisted ambulance staff with the extrication of patient who had fallen inside their flat. Crews lifted the casualty to the awaiting ambulance outside using crew power and ambulances scoop stretcher. Incident left with ambulance crews.

Crews from Harrogate, Scarborough, York, Skipton and Masham all responded to activated fire alarms inside commercial and residential buildings. These were confirmed false alarms.
