Incident Summary – Wednesday Nightshift, 18th December 2024

Time: 17:33  Location: Malton

A crew from responded to a chimney fire which was believed to be out proper to fire crews arrival. Crews extinguished the hearth and emptied the contents. A thermal imagining camera was used to check for hotspots. Crews then conducted a home fire safety visit to give advice to the occupiers.

Time: 17:45  Location: Acomb

A crew from Acomb assisted paramedics with the extrication of a casualty from their property using crew power. Crews lifted the patient to the ambulance and left them in the care of paramedics.

Time: 18:41  Location: Selby

A crew from Selby assisted an occupant who had fallen from their bed and was unable to move, but uninjured. Crew power used only.

Time: 18:42  Location: Acomb

A crew from Acomb responded to a bin on fire. This was extinguished using a bucket of water and the cause was believed deliberate.

Time: 19:11  Location: Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to a pile of rubbish on fire measuring 2 metres by 2 metres. This was extinguished using a hose reel jet and the cause was believed deliberate.

Time: 20:41  Location: Filey

A crew from Filey responded to a person who had crashed their mobility scooter into a ditch and became trapped. Crews lifted the casualty out of the ditch and assessed them for injuries. The person thankfully had no injuries and was escorted back to their nearby property to be left in the care of family.

Time: 20:52  Location: Northallerton

A crew from Northallerton responded to a chimney well alight on a domestic property. Crews used chimney equipment to extinguish the fire. Advice was given to occupant and a new smoke alarm was fitted.

Time: 21:33  Location: York

Crews from York and Acomb responded to smoke sighted from a commercial building. After inspection crew confirmed this was a small fire consisting of a large amount of paper set alight deliberately. Crews used a bucket of water to extinguish.

Time: 22:16   Location: Malton

Malton crews assisted a person locked in their bathroom due to a faulty lock mechanism. Crews used specialist tools to release the lock and allow the door to be opened.

Time: 22:38    Location: Coopt Hewick

Ripon crew attended a domestic property due to reports of a fire in property. On arrival crew confirmed a small fire in the kitchen had occurred by cooking. occupant suffered from smoke inhalation. Crews removed pan outside and ventilated property. Occupant was administered oxygen and monitored by crews until arrival of Ambulance service.

 

Crews from York, Acomb, Knaresborough, Harrogate and Selby also attended automatic fire alarms but these were all confirmed as false alarms after an inspection.
