Incident Summary – Friday Dayshift, 10th January 2025

Time: 07:40  Location: Harrogate

A crew from Harrogate responded to a green house well alight. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet. This was caused accidentally by a paraffin heater. A thermal inspection using a thermal imaging camera was completed to confirm the fire was fully extinguished.

Time: 07:51  Location: Knaresborough

A crew from Harrogate responded to a fire to the rear wheel of a lorry. Crews inspected the vehicle with a thermal imagine camera and confirmed that the brakes had overheated. A hose reel jet was used to cool down the wheels and advice was given to the driver.

Time: 09:33  Location: A1(M), Leeming Bar

A crew from Ripon responded to a vehicle smoking on the northbound carriageway of the A1 motorway. On arrival, crews discovered this to be a blown turbo. Crews ensured the safety of the vehicles occupants until the arrival of highways. Incident was handed over and left with Highways.

Time: 09:34  Location: Harrogate

A crew from Harrogate responded to a cooker fire inside a residential property. Fortunately, the fire was out prior to crews arrival. The property was then ventilated with two firefighters entering the building wearing breathing apparatus equipment. Crews also administered oxygen therapy to the occupant before the arrival of ambulance. Incident was left with ambulance who continued the care of the occupant.

Time: 13:54  Location: Northallerton

Northallerton mobilised to a chimney fire inside a domestic property. This was caused by a build up of debris. Crews used a chimney kit and rods to extinguish the fire. Advice given to homeowners.

Time: 14:02  Location: Huntington

Crews from Acomb and York responded to a two vehicle road traffic collision with one driver trapped. Crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to extricate the casualty. After casualty was left in care of ambulance staff to receive treatment. Crews made both vehicles safe and incident was left in the hands of police.

Time: 14:12   Location: Northallerton

A crew from Bedale responded to a burst pipe inside a domestics property. Thankfully, prior to crews arrival the occupant had isolated the utilities and no further action was required. Occupants declined further advice.

Time: 14:43   Location: Selby

A crew from Selby responded to flooding in the basement of public building. Crews used a light portable pump to remove the water. Advice was given to the warden on site.

Time: 16:00  Location: Northallerton

A crew from Northallerton responded to a fire in the kitchen of a domestic property which was out prior to crews arrival after the resident extinguished it. This was caused accidentally after a toaster was left on the hob. Crews completed an inspection and used a positive pressure ventilation to clear the property of smoke. Crews gave fire safety advice to the resident.

 

Crews from Bedale, Acomb and York(x2) and Selby also responded to activated fire alarms at residential buildings. After inspection, these were all confirmed false alarms.
