Incident Summary – Thursday Nightshift, 16th January 2025
To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.
Time: 18:01 Location: Northallerton
A crew from Stokesley mobilised to a leak inside the loft of a domestic property which had caused the ceiling to collapse. The occupant was not at home during the incident but will be informed from their neighbour that crews have used small tools to isolate the utilities of the property and stop any further damage to the property.
Time: 18:25 Location: York
York crew mobilised to a fire in the open which was believed to had been set deliberately. Crews extinguished the fire using a knapsack sprayer and buckets of water.
Time: 19:38 Location: Sherburn
A crew from Sherburn responded to a single vehicle road traffic collision. All occupants were out prior to fire crews arrival after it was reported one person could be trapped. Crews made the vehicle safe and checked occupants of the car for any injuries. Incident was left with police who transported the occupants to hospital for precautionary reasons.
Time: 20:53 Location: Acomb
A crew from Acomb responded to an occupant who had fallen inside their property and was unable to move. Crews lifted the occupant, who was uninjured, back to a safe position and left them in the care of family.
Time: 21:21 Location: Harrogate
Harrogate crew mobilised to a person stuck inside the toilets of a commercial building. Crews arrived to find the occupant had self rescued. Advice was given.
Time: 23:07 Location: Near Selby
A crew from Selby and neighbouring fire services appliance from Askern responded to a vehicle fire. Crews extinguished the fire wearing breathing apparatus equipment and using a hose reel jet. Incident was left with recovery.
Crews from Whitby, Filey, Scarborough (x3), Harrogate and Bedale also responded to activated fire alarms inside residential and commercial properties. After inspection, these were all confirmed false alarms.
