Incident summary – 23rd January 2025, Day Shift

09:21 – Ripon 

Crews from Ripon and Harrogate responded to a report of smoke coming from a large sawdust pile in a shed. Crews dampened down the area containing around 100 tonnes of wood shavings whilst the owner used farm machinery to transport the shavings to a safer location to allow to smoulder. The incident was handed over to a responsible person.

11:08 – Harrogate 

A crew from Acomb responded to a report of an alarm activation in a residential premises. This was a false alarm due to testing on the system, advice was given to a responsible person.

11:57 – Northallerton 

A crew from Northallerton responded to a report of hay smouldering in a field. Crews carried out a thorough search of the area and found no sign of the fire.

12:10 – Northallerton 

A crew from Thirsk responded to a report of an alarm activation in a residential premises. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

12:35 – York 

A crew from York responded to a report of an alarm activation in a residential premises. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the system.

13:49 – Richmond 

A crew from Richmond responded to a report of an alarm activation in a residential premises where there was no response from the occupant. Crews found this to be a false alarm due to a fault on the system, advice was given to a responsible person.

14:12 – Summerbridge 

Crews from Harrogate and Ripon responded to a report of a fire seen in a wooden shed. Crews carried out a thorough search of the area and located and extinguished an  unattended bin fire near to a derelict shed.

14:24 – Boroughbridge 

A crew from Knaresborough responded to a report of a domestic garage on fire. Crews located a fire to two plastic wheelie bins within the garage that had been extinguished by the occupier prior to their arrival. The fire had been caused by hot ashes that had been accidentally placed in the bin.

14:26 – Harrogate 

A crew from Tadcaster responded to a request from ambulance crews to gain entry to a residential property where they had concerns for the occupant. Crews were able to gain access to the property by making contact with the occupant who was then able to open the door. The incident was left with the ambulance crew.

14:34 – Settle 

A crew from Settle responded to a report of a smell of burning and smoke coming from a car. Crews used a thermal imaging camera to check the vehicle and found this to be a false alarm due to the vehicle overheating. Advice was given to the owner.

14:34 – Northallerton 

A crew from Northallerton responded to a report of an alarm activation in a residential premises. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the system.

15:04 – York 

A crew from York responded to a report of an alarm activation in a residential premises. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the system.
