Incident summary – 24 January, 2025 – Night shift

To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Time: 17:04  Location: Masham

Masham fire crew used a hose reel to extinguish a tree truck which had been set alight by youths.

Time: 17:53  Location: Osmotherley

A crew from Northallerton responded to a reported chimney fire. It was out on their arrival and a thermal camera was used to inspect the flue for any residual heat.

Time: 18:57  Location: Filey

Filey and Scarborough crews responded to a fire in a bin which had spread to an adjacent hedge. The fire was extinguished by use of a hose reel jet. Some heat and smoke damage was also occasioned to a garage. Cause was hot ash which had been disposed of in the bin some hours earlier.

Time: 19:21  Location: Malton

Malton fire crew were requested by Ambulance to gain entry to a premises due to concern for the occupant. Shortly after arrival, occupant opened the door to paramedics.

Time: 20:30  Location: Great Ayton

Stokesley fire crew responded to a report of a fire in a rear yard. This was found to be an attended controlled burn.

Time: 23:40  Location: York

Crew from York responded to reports of a piece of industrial equipment on fire. On arrival this was found to be a false alarm. This was a piece of highways equipment being used appropriately.

Time: 03:33  Location: Malton

Ambulance requested a crew from Malton to provide additional crew power to assist with the removal of a casualty from a premises and into an ambulance.

There were also attended fire alarm activations in: York, Kirby Misperton, Harrogate and Giggleswick.  All proved false alarms.
