Incident Summary – Monday Nightshift, 17/02/2025

Time: 17:27  Location: Whitby

Crews from Whitby and Lythe mobilised to steam mistaken as smoke inside a commercial building. This was caused by a high pressure boiler overproducing steam. Crews gave advice to the occupier.

Time: 19:16 Location: Northallerton

A crew from Northallerton mobilised to assist ambulance with removing an internal door the occupant inside was trapped behind after falling over. Crews used small tools only and stood by to assist further while paramedics completed a medical assessment. No further action was required and the incident was left with paramedics.

Time: 22:33  Location: York

A crew from York responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential building. After inspection this was confirmed to be a false alarm caused by a fault on the system. Advice was given to occupants.

Time: 22:56  Location: York

Crews from York and Acomb responded to large fire at the rear of some garages. Crews wearing breathing apparatus equipment extinguished the fire using two hose reel jets. The garage sustained external fire damage only but some commercial wheelie bins and surrounding fence were damaged. Crews dampened down after the fire was extinguished and a further inspection will be carried out during daylight hours.

Crews from Acomb and York mobilised to the smell of burning inside a residential building. Crews inspected the building and found no sign of smoke or fire. The cause of the burning smell was due to previous cooking fumes which had activated the fire alarm. Advice was given to occupants.
