Incident Summary – Day Shift, Wednesday 12th March

To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Time: 08.24  Location: York

York Crew responded to the activation of an automatic fire alarm.  This was found to be a false alarm caused by water in the detector head.

Time: 09.22  Location: Northallerton

Northallerton Crew responded to a request from another agency to assist with moving a patient downstairs.  Crew used crew power to transport the patient.

Time: 09.25  Location: York

The crew from Acomb responded to an activation of an automatic fire alarm in a residential building.  This was a false alarm due to workmen in the premises.

Time: 10.14  Location: Whitby

Crews from Whitby and Scarborough responded to a report of a smell of smoke in a retail premises.  This was found to be coming from a burnt out electrical meter. Advice was given to contact the electricity board.

Time: 10.28  Location: Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough attended a public assembly building due to the activation of an automatic fire alarm.  This was found to be false alarm due to cooking fumes.

Time: 12.15  Location: Harrogate

Crews from Harrogate and Knaresborough attended a report of an automatic fire alarm activation and smell of smoke in a disused property. This was found to be a false alarm due to a faulty manual call point.

Time: 14.33  Location: Helmsley

Helmsley and Malton Crews responded to a report of chimney fire in a thatched property.  This was found to be within the chimney and extinguished using thermal image camera and chimney rods.

Time:   15.06  Location: Knaresborough 

An officer attended an address to give advice regarding a kitten stuck behind a toilet.  Advice given to owner to leave food to entice the kitten out.

Time:   13.33  Location: Skipton 

Crews from Skipton attended a property where water was leaking through a ceiling.  This was due to overflowing bath which had been turned off prior to fire service arrival.  No action.

Time:   16.39  Location:  Seamer, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough attended an automatic fire alarm sounding, this was a false alarm due to accidental breakage of glass point.
