Incident Summary – Day Shift, Friday 14th March
To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.
Time: 08.20 Location: Selby
The crew from Selby responded to a report of a boat that had engine failure and was drifting in a river with occupants on board. Crew used the triple extension ladder, GP lines, life jackets and the boat to pull the drifting boat into a safe location and rescued the occupants.
Time: 10.30 Location: Skipton
Skipton crew responded to a report of an automatic fire alarm activation at a residential premises. This was found to be a false alarm due to testing of the system.
Time: 10.58 Location: York
Crews from York responded to a report of 2 persons stuck in a lift. Crews used small tools to rescue the occupants of the lift. Advice was given to the responsible person.
Time: 11.16 Location: Scarborough
A crew from Scarborough responded to a report of an automatic fire alarm activation in a residential premises. This was found to be a false alarm due to testing of the system.
Time: 11.42 Location: Ripon
Crew from Ripon responded to an automatic fire alarm activation in a multiple residential property. This was found to be a false alarm due to smoking fumes.
Time: 11.46 Location: Malton
Crews from York responded to a report of a strong smell of smoke at the rear of a derelict building. This was found to be a controlled burn under supervision.
Time: 12.15 Location: Acomb
Crews from Acomb and our neighbouring services Weatherby appliance responded to a report of a fire in the back of a waste collection lorry. The staff on the lorry had extinguished the fire prior to the arrival of the fire service but escorted the vehicle back to its base as a precaution.
Time: 13.02 Location: Scarborough
Crews from Scarborough and Filey responded to an automatic fire alarm activation in a residential property. Crews gained access to the property using the keysafe, found no alarm sounding and the resident was not at the property.
Time: 13.47 Location: York
The crew from York responded to a request from Ambulance to assist with gaining entry to a property due to concerns for the occupant. crews gained entry to the property via a first floor window and allowed Ambulance crew access.
