Incident summary – Night shift Sunday 23rd March

17:05 Selby
Selby crews responded to a fire in the open involving an old discarded bathtub on river bank. Crews extinguished the fire using backpack sprayers.
17:43 Copmanthorpe
Acomb crew responded to sightings of a small bonfire left unattended. Crew confirmed a small campfire consisting of logs was burning and extinguished using a bucket of water.
19:08 Whitby
Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay were mobilised to reports of a large fire sighted believed to be a barn. After arrival and inspection crew confirmed a large hay barn measuring 25m x 10m was well alight. Approx 200 bales of hay involved in fire. Crews requested a further four fire appliances for water and crew power, these appliances were mobilised from Lythe, Scarborough and Danby, alongside the water bowser from Tadcaster and supporting appliances from Malton and Thirsk. Crew set up jets and also protected surrounding property. This incident is still ongoing, with crews from Filey and Lythe currently in attendance.
Update 24th March 2pm- the cause of the fire is still under investigation
19:19 Thresfield
Grassington crews investigated reports of fire sighted in the open. After inspection crew confirmed this was a bonfire with the landowner supervising. No Fire Service intervention was required.
21:04 York
York crew were requested by Ambulance crew to gain access to a property due to concerns for occupier. Crew used electronic spreaders to gain access. Incident left in the hands of Ambulance service.

A crew from Acomb gained entry to a property on behalf of the ambulance service, for a patient who had fallen within. Crews used the method of entry kit to gain access.
02:11, York
A crew from York removed a ring from a persons finger using ring cutters and small tools.
Automatic fire alarms activated in Selby, Harrogate and Tadcaster. These were investigated by crews and confirmed as false alarms.
