Incident Summary – Friday 9th May Day Shift

To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

10:19 – Huntington

A crew from York attended an address to assist paramedics with lifting a patient in their care. The crew used crew power to lift the person from the property and into a road ambulance.

11:24 – York

A crew from York responded to a report of a small fire in woodland. The fire measured a metre by a metre and consisted of branches and leaves. The crew extinguished the fire using knapsack sprayers.

12:59 – Downholme

Crews from Richmond, Colburn and Leyburn attended a large fire in the open involving a pile of tyres. The crews used 2 hose reel jets and some 45 millimetre hose, 2 breathing apparatus, pitchforks and thermal imaging cameras were used to extinguish the fire, check for hotspots and dampen down the area.

13:51 – Ripon

Ripon’s fire crew attended a small fire in the open consisting of shrubbery and paper. crews extinguished the fire.

14:11 – Whashton

A crew from Reeth responded to a fire in the open involving hay bales. Crews worked alongside the farmer to turn over the bales to aid with extinguishing the fires. The crew used 2 breathing apparatus and 2 hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and dampen down the area.

14:43 – Harrogate

Crews from Harrogate and Knaresborough attended a fire in a residential building. The crews used 4 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets, 1 triple extension ladder, 1 positive pressure ventilation fan and 2 thermal image cameras to extinguish the fire, check for hot spots and ventilate the property. The fire is believed to have started in a charging cable.

16:05 – Grassington

A crew from Grassington is currently on scene at a two vehicle road traffic collision.

Crews from York, Acomb, Harrogate and Malton attended various automatic fire alarm activations throughout the day. These were all confirmed as false alarms.
