Incident Summary – Day Shift, Monday 12th May

To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Time: 08.05    Location: Whitby

The Crew from Whitby responded to a report of a deer that was stuck in some railings. Crews released the deer using Edraulic spreaders.

Time: 09:27    Location: Thirsk

Crew from Thirsk and Northalllerton responded to a fire in a rubbish wagon. Crew used 2 breathing apparatus and 1 hose reel jet to initially tackle the fire. They were then assisted by onsite machinery to empty the trailer and set up a ground monitor to extinguish.

Time:  10:40   Location: Pannal

Crew from Harrogate responded to reports of a small fire at the roadside. On arrival this was found to be a cardboard box that had been ignited by a discarded cigarette. The fire had been extinguished by a passer by using a powder extinguisher. Inspection only carried out.

Time: 11:21    Location: Middleham

Crew from Leyburn responded to an automatic fire alarm activation at a residential premises. On arrival this was found to have been caused by a small fire in a waste paper basket which had ignited due to a discarded cigarette.

Time: 12:11  Location: Whitby

Crews from Whitby assisted a child with their arm stuck in a table. Crew power only used to release them.

Time:  12:23   Location: Brayton

Crew from Selby responded to reports of a garden shed on fire. On arrival of crews the fire was found to be already extinguished. Crews used 1 hose reel jet to dampen down.

Time: 14:16  Location: York

Crew from York responded to reports of a skip on fire at a recycling plant. Crew used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish and dampen down.

Time: 14:35  Location: New Earswick

Crew from Acomb responded to reports of a small fire in some woodland. Crew extinguished using 1 bucket of water.

Time: 14:39  Location: Pickering

Crews from Kirkbymoorside, Malton, York and Thirsk along with a water bowser from Tadcaster attended a fire to a barn measuring approx 20 x 20 metres in size containing bales of straw. Crews used 4 hose reel jets and a 45mm jet. This incident remain ongoing but has been scaled back to 2 appliances.

Time: 15:05  Location: Hellifield

Crew from Gassington were mobilised to smoke sighted in the Hellifield area. On arrival they located a car on fire. Crew used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish and a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.

Time: 15:40 Location: Great Busby

Crews from Stokesley, Northallerton and Danby attended a fire that had started as a controlled burn before getting out of hand and spreading to a flattened stable block. Crews used 2 hose reel jets and 2 breathing apparatus. This incident remains ongoing.

 

During the day crews from Tadcaster, Northallerton and Skipton responded to automatic fire alarm activations. These resulted in false alarms.
